History of Industry Liaison Groups
In the early 1980’s, in anticipation of new regulations for Executive Order 11246, Ellen Shong, past Director of the Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs, Department of Labor, encouraged open communications between industry and the OFCCP through Industry Liaison Groups.
Representatives from companies that were Federal Contractors began forming ILGs together with the Department of Labor in regions around the country. These groups sought technical assistance from OFCCP representatives regarding compliance issues. With collaboration and encouragement from the OFCCP Director’s Office, ILGs began forming all around the country.
ILGs provide the OFCCP and employers with an opportunity to discuss changes in federal contracting requirements and compliance trends.
